CZJ Sonnar +Jupiter-3+Jupiter-3+Jupiter-3 test

A small test of 4 related lenses.

Important caveat. The test is exclusively amateur, absolutely without any claims to total objectivity.

Just wanted to see how they perform at close range. Unfortunately, at that moment there was absolutely no way to involve a living person as a model. Therefore, nearby figurines were used.

The test is divided into 4 groups (according to the number of subjects). Each group has three frames.

Every first frame shot at 1/1.5 aperture

Every second frame - at aperture 1/2

Every third frame - at aperture 1 / 2.5

Four groups of files, according to the number of lenses. So -

1.CZJ Sonnar 1,5/5 cm, according to the number on the case, it can be argued that it was made in 1941.

2.Jupiter-3, 1951, bayonet version for rangefinder cameras of the Kyiv type, manufactured at the Krasnogorsk plant.

3.Jupiter-3, 1956, m39 thread, Zagorsk plant.

4.Jupiter-3, 1971, m39 thread, Zagorsk plant.

Test shots were shot on a full-frame mirrorless camera in outdoor conditions. RAW format.

When processing in Lightroom, they underwent minor changes, the processing parameters can be seen in the screenshots.

Second plot - screenshot 2.

This is what these lenses look like -

Conclusions.
Personally for myself, I made such a conclusion. Of course, later lenses show more consistent results. It even feels like it’s easier to photograph with a 1971 lens than with a 1941 lens. However, even in the oldest of these lenses, I mean Sonnar, there is some inexpressible character and airiness, compared to younger specimens.
I am satisfied with the results of this short test and have drawn some conclusions for myself.
Will I take pictures on Jupiter-3? Maybe sometimes, under certain circumstances.
Will my Jupiter-3 serve as the main lens "for girls"?
Certainly not.
Will I take photos with Sonnar? Most likely no. I am a realist and I understand very well that its value is not in the results of its work, but in its presence with me. Such things should already be quietly standing on the shelf and delighting with their presence.
Although in my case - this is not a shelf, but a securely packed box, prepared for a sudden emergency evacuation.
